The distance from Mumbai to Gopalganj will be around 1500-1600 kms. It will take more than a day to travel by train. The nearest airport to Gopalganj is in Gorakhpur. Means the journey till Mumbai is not easy. Then how did Pankaj Tripathi's dreams take such a long flight? How did Pankaj Tripathi, born in a farmer's house, dream of the silver screen? It is true that Pankaj is not the only artist who came out of any village in India and settled in Mayanagari. Such artists will come in future also. But every such artist would need Banaras Tiwari as a father who would give freedom to the son to do whatever he wants. Just like Pankaj Tripathi gives to his daughter in his film 'Gunjan Saxena'.
Today the shadow of that same father disappeared from the head of Pankaj Tripathi. Pankaj Tripathi's fans were not unfamiliar with his father. This is because whenever Pankaj used to go to the village, he used to post pictures with his parents. It is possible that people did not know his father's name but people knew him by his face.
In childhood, the father said – do whatever you want to do.
Pankaj's father Banaras Tiwari used to do worship in Gopalganj, along with farming. No one remembers things before a certain age in childhood. Pankaj will also remember his father's farming from the time he remembers it. Pankaj also helped his father in farming. Between farming and studies, the seeds of acting were sown in Pankaj too. There is also a story behind this. But first about the freedom that he got from his father.
It so happened that Pankaj Tripathi had to play the role of a girl in a play. The director was afraid that Pankaj's father might object to this. Everyone in the village knew Banaras Tiwari. Fearing public shame, it should not happen that Pankaj's father creates ruckus in the middle of the play. Therefore, before giving this role, the director clearly said - first ask your father. Pankaj was only 14-15 years old. Hesitatingly asked his father. Father gave permission. Said - do whatever you want to do. He never stopped Pankaj from any work. When the seed of acting got freedom from its father, it felt like a crop got good manure. Pankaj's acting flourished with this manure.
Who recognized Pankaj's 'acting skill'
Pankaj used to live in Tripathi's village - Tarakeshwar Tiwari. Tarakeshwar Tiwari had polio. But he was passionate about theatre. Used to tell children about sex education as well. His phrase was- Come, let me show you a new world. He used to write plays while lying on the bed. Used to prepare for the play. Tarakeshwar Tiwari used to be very happy when Pankaj Tripathi started doing a little theater in Patna. He used to say to Pankaj – You should act in the film. Father Banaras Tiwari gave freedom but Tarakeshwar Tiwari truly tested Pankaj Tripathi's acting ability. Pankaj always regrets that Tarakeshwar Tiwari had passed away by the time he got recognition in Hindi films. But father Banaras Tiwari saw the heights of Pankaj's acting and his popularity.
When Pankaj Tripathi went to school with an ax
It is a matter of around 1990. The film 'Maine Pyar Kiya' had become a huge hit. At the same time, a person opened a small school in Pankaj Tripathi's village. People used to say in the villages and countryside that their mind is a little off. Pankaj understood the mischief. Whenever he was seen coming and going on the way to school, Pankaj would sing along with the boys – Dil deewana bin sajna ke mane na, yeh pagla hai samajne se samahe na. This song from the movie 'Maine Pyar Kiya' was a super hit. However, Pankaj's mischief was that he used to emphasize more on 'Yeh pagla hai' in the entire line. One day he got angry. He angrily threatened Pankaj, I will cut off your ear. The next day, when it was Pankaj's turn to go to school, he also remembered the threat of chopping off his ear. So he also kept an ax in his school bag for self-defense. However, there was no need to cut the ears.
Now only memories of father will remain
Pankaj had posted his father's picture a few years back on January 26. It is said that he used to wear a cap while hoisting the flag. Pankaj used to say – my Babuji and my nation. my good fortune. About five years ago, Pankaj Tripathi had written – Because of you, a sense of pride emerged on the father's face and your golden future. There can be no better Father's Day gift than this. Apart from this, we do not even have the capacity to give anything to our father. Everything even this life is the blessings of our parents.
