PM Modi's 'Rakhi gift' to the country's sisters, will get ₹ 200 cheaper cooking gas cylinder

The Modi government has been on the target of the opposition for a long time regarding LPG prices. Now the Modi government has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 on domestic cooking gas cylinders. 10.35 crore sisters of Ujjwala Yojana will get double benefit of this.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has given a big gift to all the sisters of the country on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam. The Modi government has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 on domestic gas cylinders. On the other hand, 10.35 crore beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana will get double profit. They will get Rs 400 cheaper than the cylinder market rate. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved this decision of the government. This will put a burden of Rs 7500 crore on the exchequer.

In March this year too, the Modi government had announced a subsidy of Rs 200 on cooking gas cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme. In such a situation, due to getting this additional subsidy, about 10.35 crore beneficiary sisters of Ujjwala Yojana will get cooking gas cylinders at almost half the price. At the same time, the government has also announced to give 75 lakh free connections under the Ujjwala scheme.

This decision of the government is also being linked to the upcoming elections. This year, assembly elections are to be held in important states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the country. While there are also Lok Sabha elections in the beginning of 2024. In such a situation, inflation is a big election issue. While the opposition continues to attack the Modi government regarding the prices of cooking gas.

Cylinder prices have not changed since March

At present, the price of domestic LPG cylinder (14.2 kg) remains around Rs.1100 within the country. Its price is Rs 1103 in Delhi, Rs 1102.50 in Mumbai, Rs 1118.50 in Chennai and Rs 1129 in Kolkata. There has been no increase or decrease in the prices of domestic gas cylinders since March. While the price of commercial cylinder has seen frequent fluctuations.

The prices of commercial cylinders (19 kg) in the country have remained unchanged since August 1. At present, the price of 19 kg cylinder in the country is Rs 1680 in Delhi. However, in the meantime, there has been a softening in the prices of crude oil in the international markets. And the prices of petrol and diesel have also remained stable in the country for a long time.

Now you will get this much cylinder

After this price cut by the government, the price of LPG cylinder in Delhi will be Rs 903 for general customers and Rs 703 for the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana. The government will transfer the subsidy money directly to the people's account.

A major reason behind this decision of the Modi government is believed to be the opposition's continuous attack on inflation. Whereas in the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's government is providing cylinders to the poor population for just Rs.500.
