Legionella bacteria have been found in the water supply of some areas of Poland. Due to drinking this water, this bacteria is entering people's body. This is causing Legionnaires' disease. This disease is causing pneumonia. So far, more than 100 people have been infected with this disease in Poland.
Alert issued
According to a report in The Sun, the European Center for Disease Control has issued an alert regarding Legionnaires' disease. The center has said that till now Legionella bacteria has been found in 113 patients. Of these, 07 people have died. All of them were above 65 years of age and also had other diseases.
According to the centre, if you are not able to breathe properly or have chest pain, then you should definitely go to the doctor. The center has advised people that if there is a hot tub or home spa in the house, it is necessary to dry, clean and disinfect it regularly. Boil the water available in drinking supply and drink it.
What is Legionella bacteria?
Dr. Ajit Kumar Jain at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital explains that Legionella bacteria is present in bad water. If a person drinks such water, then he gets Legionnaires' disease. This is a type of pneumonia. People who are old or are already suffering from some other serious disease, they are at risk of this disease. Usually this disease is cured with antibiotics, but if the infection is severe in the lungs then the patient's condition may worsen. In such a situation, if someone is having trouble breathing or persistent cough, then a doctor should be consulted.
