In a statement issued on Wednesday, the core committee of PTI said it has decided to celebrate the completion of 16 months of the PDM government. Due to the premature dissolution of the National Assembly, the Election Commission of Pakistan will conduct elections within 90 days. The PDM coalition came to power in April last year, ousting Khan's government. Imran Khan (70) was on Saturday sentenced to three years in jail by an Islamabad trial court in the Toshakhana corruption case for illegally selling government gifts during his tenure as prime minister from 2018 to 2022.
