President Murmu On UCC: President Draupadi Murmu praised UCC, told Goa an example for the country


President Murmu In Goa: President Draupadi Murmu has said that the Uniform Civil Code gives equal rights to men and women of all communities.

President Draupadi Murmu On UCC: President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday (August 22) presented his views on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in front of the country in a program in Goa. President Murmu addressed the civic reception organized by the Government of Goa. In his address, the President said, it is a matter of pride that the people of Goa have accepted the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and it is a good example for the whole country. 

President Murmu said, "It is a matter of pride for Goa that its people have adopted the Uniform Civil Code. The Common Civil Code is an example of the cosmopolitan culture here, which brings together women and men of all communities living in Goa." Gives equal rights. This code is in accordance with the instructions of the constitution of our country and it is a good example for the whole country."

He said that the people of Goa are known for their good hospitality and hence the state receives a large number of tourists. For this I congratulate all of you. Along with a tourism center, Goa is also known as an important center of education, trade and commerce, industry, technology and defence.

Common Civil Code is applicable in

Goa Uniform Civil Law of 1867 applies to citizens of all communities in Goa. Although some rules are different for Catholic Christians and other communities. Like Hindus can do two marriages only in Goa.

In 1961, Goa joined the Indian Union as a territory. In 1962 the Goa Daman and Diu Administration Act came into force. After this the state of Goa was allowed to implement the Portuguese Civil Code of 1867. Under the Uniform Civil Code, a law was passed that would not care about any religion, gender and sexual orientation. In Goa, this law allows for equal sharing of wealth and income between husband and wife as well as children (without distinction between male and female).
