Raksha Bandhan 2023: Banks will remain closed in these states, see the complete list here

Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated for two days in different states of the country and banks will have a holiday on August 30 and 31 in all these states. Let us also tell you where the banks will remain closed in these two days.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the dates of Raksha Bandhan. Some people are celebrating the festival on 30th August i.e. today, while many people in the country are celebrating the festival on 31st August. On the other hand, RBI has declared bank holidays on both the days. This means that in some states there will be a bank holiday on 30th August and in some on 31st August. According to the holiday list of RBI, banks will remain closed on August 30 in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Banks are closed in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Sikkim on 31 August.

Where will the bank be closed for two days

August 30 - (Wednesday) - Raksha Bandhan - Banks are closed in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh.

31 August – (Thursday) – Raksha Bandhan/Shri Narayana Guru Jayanti/Pang-Labsol – Banks are closed in Uttarakhand, Assam, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh.

Bank holidays have been classified by RBI in three ways, the first being the holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, the second being the holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and the real time gross settlement holiday and the third being account closure of banks. Even though bank branches will remain closed on August 30 and 31, online banking services like mobile and internet banking will continue to operate. This means that the common people are not going to face any special problem. Services will be available.
