story of mother santoshi
One day Lord Shri Ganesha was tying Raksha Sutra to his sister Mansa Devi, when both his sons Shubh and Labh saw it and asked about this ritual, then Lord Shri Ganesh called it a protective shield. He told that this Raksha Sutra is a symbol of blessings and love between brothers and sisters. Hearing this, Shubh and Labh insisted on their father that they wanted a sister and yielding to the stubbornness of their children, Lord Ganesha created a flame from his powers and combined it with the soul power of both his wives Riddhi-Siddhi. . A girl (Santoshi) was born from that light and both the brothers got a sister on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Story of Mother Lakshmi and King Bali
Once upon a time when Lord Vishnu, being pleased with the charity of Asura King Bali, asked him to ask for a boon, then King Bali asked Lord Vishnu to go with him to Patal Lok and asked for a boon to stay with him. Then Lord Vishnu left his seven heavenly abodes and went to Patal Lok. Mata Lakshmi fell alone in Vaikunth and started making many efforts to bring Lord Vishnu back to Vaikunth. Then one day mother Lakshmi started living at Raja Bali's place in the form of a poor woman. When the mother started crying one day, King Bali asked her the reason for crying. Then King Bali asked her to ask for something on this auspicious occasion, then mother Lakshmi asked Vishnu ji as her groom and thus Lord Vishnu returned to Baikuntha Dham.
Story of Shri Krishna and Draupadi
During the Mahabharata, once the Pandavas invited Lord Krishna for the Rajasuya Yagya. Shri Krishna's cousin Shishupala was also present in that yagya. During that time Shishupala insulted Lord Krishna a lot. Lord Krishna got angry when the water went over his head. In anger, Lord Shri Krishna left his Sudarshan Chakra on Shishupala, but after beheading Shishupala, when the chakra returned to Lord Shri Krishna, his index finger got a deep wound. Seeing this, Draupadi tore a piece from her saree and tied it on Lord Krishna's finger. Lord Krishna was very pleased to see this affection of Draupadi and promised Draupadi that he will always be with her in every situation and will always protect her.
Story of Queen Karnavati and Emperor Humayun
When Sultan Bahadur Shah was attacking Chittor, Queen Karnavati sent Rakhi to Emperor Humayun for the protection of her kingdom and requested him to protect her. Humayun accepted Rakhi and along with his soldiers left for Chittor to protect her, but before Humayun reached Chittor, Rani Karnavati committed suicide.

According to a mythological story, Yama, the god of death, did not visit his sister Yamuna for 12 years. Then Yamuna became sad and talked to her mother Ganga about this. Mother Ganga conveyed the news to Yama that Yamuna was waiting for her and hearing this, Yama came to meet his sister Yumna. Yamuna was very happy to see Yama and also prepared many dishes for him. Yama was very happy to see this love gesture and asked Yamuna to ask for the desired boon. On this, Yamuna asked him for a boon that Yama would soon come back to his sister.
