Russia will end India's biggest tension, after oil, now wheat will provide relief from inflation

In the year 2017, India imported 53 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. Then he had imported wheat not through government, but through private companies.

To curb inflation, India is considering importing wheat after crude oil from its old and most reliable friend Russia. For this, the central government has made all the preparations. The government hopes that like crude oil, Russia will also give it wheat at cheap rates. This will reduce the rising prices of food items. The special thing is that apart from purchasing wheat at the government level, wheat can also be imported at the private level.

Actually, inflation in the country has reached its peak. In the month of July, retail inflation broke the record of the last 15 months. Due to this, green vegetables as well as wheat also became expensive. Due to this the prices of flour also increased. It is being said that during the last two months the price of wheat has increased by 10%. Due to this food and drink became expensive. Even so, there is a possibility of reduction in wheat stock this year. Because of this, the government has already become alert. To increase the stock of wheat in the country, it is planning to buy wheat from Russia at a lower price, so that it can put a brake on rising inflation. At the same time, the situation should be under control during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, so that the general public does not get angry with him on the issue of inflation.

30 to 40 lakh metric tonnes of wheat required

According to sources, there is a demand of 30 to 40 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in the country. But the central government can buy 80 to 90 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from Russia. The center is feeling that inflation can be controlled for a long time by importing more wheat than required. However, for the last several years, the central government is not importing wheat at the official level.

Preparing to deal with a potential threat

On August 1, wheat stock in government godowns was recorded at 28.3 million tonnes, which is 20 per cent less than the average of the last 10 years. This is the reason why the government has become cautious about inflation. It is feeling that if the situation gets uncontrolled before the elections, it will be difficult to control it. In such a situation, it has already started preparing to deal with the possible danger by importing wheat.

Has increased business

Let us inform that after the Russo-Ukraine war, India has further increased its business with its friend Russia. Despite opposition from America and Europe, it is buying crude oil from Russia at cheap rates and selling it at expensive rates after refining it. Due to this, India is earning a lot more. At the same time, Russia is also benefiting. This is the reason why Russia is ready to give wheat to India at a cheaper rate than its domestic market.

Will also give discount on wheat

A government official said that like crude oil, Russia is also talking about giving discount on wheat. He can give a discount of 25 to 40 dollars per ton on wheat purchase. This will greatly benefit India in importing wheat. Apart from this, it has kept all its doors open for India on the import of other food items as well. Right now India is importing sunflower oil from Russia only.
