Self-reliant India! Bharat NCAP will start from today, Indian cars will not go abroad for safety test

Bharat NCAP: Bharat NCAP will start from today, now Indian cars will not have to go abroad for safety test. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will launch this assessment today.

Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) will be launched today. Another big step will be taken today on the path of becoming a self-reliant India. Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari will launch this vehicle safety program. The objective of this program is to enhance road safety in India by fixing safety standards for motor vehicles weighing up to 3,500 kg.

Under the Bharat NCAP programme, car manufacturers can voluntarily submit their vehicles for testing. In this, rating will be given on the basis of crash-test performance. Let us know in detail about this safety program.

Crash safety rating will help customers choose a better car

1. Bharat NCAP will act as a valuable tool for car buyers to evaluate crash safety in the Indian vehicle market.

2. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) estimates that the new safety regulations will boost the demand for the safest cars and motivate manufacturers to follow the standards.

3. The safety rating will help the customers to compare different vehicles in terms of safety while making the right selection.

Bharat NCAP will also boost Indian auto exports

MoRTH is hopeful that Bharat NCAP will have a positive impact on both domestic demand and exports. By implementing higher safety standards, Indian cars will be better prepared to compete in the global market, thereby increasing the export potential of car manufacturers in the country. The initiative has already received support from several auto manufacturers in India including Maruti Suzuki, Toyota and Mahindra.

Star rating

Car manufacturers are free to send cars for testing as per the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197. Star rating will be given on the basis of the performance of the car during testing. Bharat NCAP will give star ratings for Adult Occupants (AOP) and Child Occupants (COP).
