Shikhar expressed his pain about not being selected in the Asian Games, said- I was a little surprised

India's veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan was a bit surprised when he was not included in the Indian team selected for the Asian Games. However, dismissing all the rumors of retirement, he is preparing to return to the national team soon. There were reports of 37-year-old Shikhar being made the captain due to the clash with the Asian Games and the ICC World Cup. However, for the Games in Hangzhou, China, the BCCI surprised everyone by appointing young Indian batsman Rituraj Gaikwad as the captain and did not give Gabbar a place in the team.

Let us tell you that Dhawan has already captained the Indian team on many occasions. At the same time, Dhawan has expressed his reaction to not being included in the team for the Asian Games. Dhawan said, “I was a bit surprised when my name was not there (for the Asian Games). Though, then again, I feel like their thought process is different, you just have to accept it. Glad that Ritu (Gaikwad) will captain the team. All the young boys there, I am sure they will do well.

Notably, Dhawan last played for India in December 2022. Regarding his comeback, he said, ""I will definitely be ready (to come back). That's why I keep myself fit (so that I am ready whenever the opportunity comes). The chances are always there even if it is one percent. Or 20 percent. I still enjoy training and I still enjoy the game, those things are within my control. I respect whatever decision is made."

Indian team selected for Asian Games: Rituraj Gaikwad (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar , Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dubey, Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper)
