Sri Lanka troubled by China's move, will now review its national security strategy

Sri Lanka is also getting worried due to China's ploy of enslaving it by giving loans.
This is not a new trick of China. Before Sri Lanka, China has played this card in many countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia. Now he is busy in suppressing Sri Lanka under the debt. This has started threatening the national security of Sri Lanka. With the presence of Chinese spy ships at Sri Lankan ports, efforts are also being made to breach India's security. Due to this Sri Lanka has got into a new trouble. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Saturday that the national security strategy would be reviewed amid growing international rivalry.

The President said there was a need for a comprehensive review of the country's national security strategy in order to avoid getting embroiled in growing international rivalry and to maintain neutrality in the Indian Ocean. Wickremesinghe, while addressing the Marines in the southern district of Galle, said the review would cover a wide range of issues, including emerging economic trends and climate change. He said that today's ground situation is that there is a continuing struggle for encroachment among global powers in the Indian Ocean. Wickremesinghe said, “On one front, there is a struggle between the US and China to establish dominance in the Pacific Ocean. With this, the power struggle between Western countries and Russia regarding Ukraine has come to the fore. The impact of this competition has reached as far away as Niger in Africa.

Main focus on Indian Ocean security

Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka should maintain neutrality in the Indian Ocean. There is no doubt that the Indian Ocean is an important route for global trade. As we navigate through these waters, it is imperative that we maintain a neutral stance and not engage in international rivalry. Our biggest concern should be our security in this region. He said that the use of submarines has increased in the Indian Ocean. In view of this, he said, Sri Lanka's maritime security strategy should focus on submarine surveillance. It is clear from this statement of the President that he is seeing the biggest threat from China. (Language)
