Students will read constitution and yoga in engineering diploma, under new education policy this state included in syllabus

Students engineering diploma will now also study yoga and constitution. It has been made mandatory under the new education policy. Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education has included it as a compulsory credit course from this year.

Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education has made changes in engineering diploma courses in line with the new National Education Policy. This year, students taking admission in engineering diploma courses in Maharashtra will also have to learn the Indian Constitution, yoga and meditation as part of their curriculum. It has been made mandatory from this year.

In the new syllabus starting this year, three subjects are compulsory. The curriculum will now be credit-based, where practical knowledge has been given importance by increasing the internship period from six weeks to 12 weeks. The changes in the syllabus got the final nod from the 45th expert committee meeting of the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education held earlier this month.

The course work and syllabus for all the 49 courses run by the board is ready for the first semester as per the new framework and will be implemented from this academic year 2023-24. As this batch progresses, the board will continue to determine the new syllabus for the upcoming semesters.

Constitution and Yoga will be compulsory credit courses

According to media reports, Indian Constitution, Yoga and Meditation will be compulsory credit courses for the students. An official of the Board of Technical Education said that we are starting yoga from the first semester, while other courses will be introduced for a specific number of credits as the batch progresses.

Credits assigned for the entire course

The Engineering Diploma course will also offer multiple entry and exit options, while students will have to complete 120 to 132 credits for the entire course of 6 semesters. There will be a recommended credit limit for early exit students. Students wishing to exit after the first year would get a certificate of vocation, while those after the second year would get a diploma in vocation. Only those students who complete all the three years will get Diploma in Engineering and will be eligible for direct admission to second year of Engineering degree.
