There will be an outcry again in the world, now the export of Basmati rice from India is also banned!

There was an outcry across the world after India banned the export of non-basmati rice. Now the Government of India has also banned the export of Basmati rice. The reason for this has been told to stop a big rigging.

A decision by India, which controls 40 percent of rice exports in the world, can create an outcry from America to Arab countries. We saw this when India banned the export of non-basmati white rice. However, then the export of basmati rice was exempted from this. But once again bad situation can be created in the world, India has restricted the export of some special basmati rice.

The government has taken a major decision to stop the 'rigging' of possible export of white non-basmati rice in the guise of premium basmati rice. On Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a statement in this regard and gave detailed information.

This basmati rice will not be exported

The ministry issued a notification on Sunday that now basmati rice priced below $1200 per tonne will not be exported from the country, nor will any permission be given by the ministry. In the future, APEDA's chairman will set up a committee for scrutiny of such export deals, which will allow exports only after assessing these deals.

This year, unseasonal rains, floods and El-Nino have caused a lot of damage to the paddy crop in the country. That's why many steps are being taken by the government to control the prices of rice in the domestic market. Keeping this in mind, the government had banned the export of non-basmati white rice last month, but in view of the apprehension of 'rigging', the government has now decided to ban the export of selected basmati rice as well.

In September last year, the government had banned the export of broken rice. While only last week, the government has imposed an export duty of 20 per cent on non-basmati rice that has been par-boiled. Export duty was imposed. With this, India has now stopped the export of all varieties of non-basmati rice.

There can be an outcry in the world

Last month, when India banned the export of non-basmati white rice, videos of black marketing of rice surfaced in many areas of America. Long lines were seen outside the retail stores, while the rule of limited supply of 9 kg rice to a family was also made by many stores. At the same time, there were reports of ban on export and re-export of rice in Dubai and Gulf countries. In such a situation, what will be the effect of such a ban on the export of basmati rice in the market, it is yet to be revealed.
