These green vegetables are more expensive than tomatoes, the price is Rs 140 per kg


People feel that tomatoes are the most expensive, but this is not the case. There are many such green vegetables in the market whose rate is very high.

Along with the general public, the government is also worried about the price of tomatoes in the whole country. However, tomato prices have declined in August as compared to June-July. Now in many cities, tomato has reached below Rs 100 per kg. Tomatoes are also being sold at Rs.80 per kg in many places in Delhi. At the same time, the central government has started selling tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg at all its government stores from today. But despite this, people are worried about the rate of tomatoes. Whereas, many green vegetables including cauliflower and capsicum are being sold more expensive than tomatoes. Their price is still beyond Rs 100 in the retail market.

In fact, with the arrival of monsoon, the prices of tomatoes as well as green vegetables went up in flames. Tomato, which was available for Rs 20 to 40 per kg, had suddenly crossed Rs 100 per kg. Whereas, by the time of July, it started selling at Rs.300 per kg. In Chandigarh, the price of one kg tomato had reached Rs 350. After this, the government started selling tomatoes on its own to control inflation. Earlier, tomatoes were sold at Rs 90 per kg in Delhi-NCR. After this it was sold at Rs.80 and then at Rs.70 per kg. From today she is selling Rs.50 per kg.

But, as the monsoon is weakening in the country, the prices of food items are also falling. Many green vegetables including okra, cucumber, parwal and gourd have become cheaper as compared to July. Gourd, which was sold for Rs.60 a kg, is now being sold for Rs.30 to 40 a kg. In this way, okra sold at Rs 100 to 120 per kg has also become cheaper. Now one kg of okra of good quality is available for 50 to 60 rupees. Similarly, tomato tamar has also become cheaper now. But capsicum, beans and cauliflower are more expensive than tomatoes.

According to the report published in Hindustan newspaper, while the average rate of tomato in the retail market is Rs 100 per kg, capsicum is being sold at Rs 120 per kg. Similarly, cauliflower is also priced at Rs 130 per kg. Whereas, the price of one kilo of beans in the retail market is Rs 130 to 140. That means capsicum, cauliflower and beans cost more than tomatoes.
