This bank gave a big gift to male employees, they will get 140 days leave on becoming a father.

In India, women are given 180 days leave when they become mothers. But there is no clear policy regarding men becoming fathers. Now a global bank will give 140 days i.e. 20 weeks leave to its male employees on becoming a father, and its benefits will also be available in India.

It often happens with men that they are unable to spend quality time with their children in the rush of office or work. They are not able to support their partner in their upbringing, and they do not get any separate leave to become a father, just as women get 180 days maternity leave according to the law. In some corporate offices, provisions have been made regarding paternity leave, but these are insufficient. Now a global bank will give full 140 days i.e. 20 weeks leave to its male employees on becoming a father, the benefit of which will also be given to its Indian employees.

Britain's popular bank Standard Chartered will now offer 140 days of paternity leave to all its male employees worldwide. They will also get these holidays in case of adopting a child. While this rule of the company will help couples to raise their child better in infancy, single parents and men from the LGBTQ community will also be able to become fathers.

Will get care of parents throughout the year

In India, if a couple is planning to become a parent and out of that the male partner works in Standard Chartered Bank. Then by combining the maternity leave of women and the paternity leave of bank employees, they will be able to take good care of their child after birth. If the parents' holiday is planned properly, then the new born baby will be able to get the caress of the parents almost throughout the year.

The bank made it clear in a statement that this is part of its inclusive initiative. Its employees worldwide will now be able to take 20 weeks of paternity leave. Women in India will continue to get 26 weeks of maternity leave. There will be no discrimination regarding gender or relationship status with the employees for this leave. That means, male employees will be entitled to these leaves in case of becoming a father or adopting a child as a single parent.

20,000 employees benefited in India

Standard Chartered has approximately 83,000 employees worldwide. In this, about 30,000 employees work in India. Of these, there are about 20,000 male employees. Tanuj Kapilashramy, Group HR of Standard Chartered Bank, says that this step will have a positive impact on the family-economic condition of the employees. This will help in making the office space more inclusive.

It has not been clarified by the company but due to the rule of adopting a child and keeping the relationship status aside, single parent men can get the benefit of this policy.
