Goa has become the first state in the country to have free IVF treatment. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and IUI facility at the Goa Medical College on Monday. In the super-specialty block of Goa Medical College, 100 parents have registered their names to avail this facility. CM Sawant said that the state government has achieved another achievement in healthcare.

The Chief Minister said that the department has always been a busy center of medical care and caters to the needs of many patients every year. The department has 19000 OPD patients and 4300 deliveries every year. Today we are taking a step ahead by meeting the needs of infertility patients.
Money will not be taken from patients

At the same time, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that this is the first hospital in the country where IVF treatment is going to be done for free. No money will be taken from the patients and the money will come through CSR. Rane said that people go out of state to get infertility treatment. He said that people go to Pune or Kolhapur for IVF treatment.
The Health Minister said that the hospital has received Rs 2 crore in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. This money was used to buy equipment. We will be able to provide the best facility.
