Tomatoes from Nepal and pulses from Africa, this is how the government will be able to overcome inflation

The central government has made a wonderful plan to control inflation. For this, tomatoes and pulses will be imported from abroad.

India will now buy tomatoes from Nepal and pulses from Africa to put a brake on inflation. For this, the central government has made a deal with Nepal and Africa. The special thing is that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has informed about this in the Parliament House. He has said that to curb the rising prices of tomatoes, India will import tomatoes on a large scale from Nepal. Tomato consignments will be imported first in Varanasi, Lucknow and Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh. The government hopes that this will bring down the prices of tomatoes.

At the same time, Nepal has also shown interest in exporting tomatoes to India. Agriculture Ministry spokesperson Shabnam Shivkoti says that she is ready to export tomatoes to India. Just for this India should help in making easy access to the market. According to him, Nepal has been sending tomatoes to India since a week ago. But this export is happening on a small scale. But now tomatoes will be sent from Nepal to India on a large scale.

Tomato had become cheaper than Rs 10 a kg in the market

Tomato crop has been ruined due to rain in India. Due to this tomato has become very expensive. Tomatoes, which are available for Rs 20 to 30 per kg, are being sold for Rs 120 to 160 per kg. It is being said that there has been a decrease in the arrival of tomatoes due to the decrease in supply. In such a situation, there can be an improvement in the prices of tomatoes imported from Nepal. Because like India, farmers in Nepal also cultivate tomatoes on a large scale. There is bumper production of tomatoes in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts. The special thing is that tomatoes have become expensive in India since the last week of June, while in Nepal, a month and a half ago, due to low prices, farmers had thrown 70,000 kg of tomatoes on the roads. At that time, tomatoes had become cheaper than Rs 10 per kg in the wholesale market in Nepal.

Has requested to send 50 thousand tonnes of sugar

The special thing is that Shivkoti, spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture, has talked about exporting not only tomatoes, but also peas and green chillies. But, instead of exporting tomatoes, Nepal has also demanded to send rice and sugar from India. In fact, the Government of India had recently banned the export of non-basmati rice, due to which the prices of rice in Nepal increased significantly. In such a situation, Nepal has requested India to send 1 lakh tonnes of rice, 10 lakh tonnes of paddy and 50 thousand tonnes of sugar.

Import duty removed

Like tomato, pigeon pea has also become very expensive. Arhar dal is being sold for Rs 140 to 160 per kg in many states including Delhi. In such a situation, to meet the increasing demand, the government will import pulses like tomatoes. For this, the Government of India is in talks with the African country Mozambique. It is being said that the deal has been finalized regarding the import of pulses. Mozambique will import pigeon pea and urad dal in India without any conditions and restrictions till March 31, 2024. The special thing is that India and Mozambique have also signed a bilateral MoU regarding the import of pulses. At the same time, to reduce the prices of pulses, the government has removed the import duty of 10 percent on Arhar pulses from March 3, 2023.
