WATCH: Babar Azam warns Team India in gestures, says- 'Sri Lanka is my second home'

 

Before the clash between India and Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023, Babar Azam has given a statement which is making a lot of headlines. This statement of Babar is being considered as a warning for the Indian team.

The Indian team for the Asia Cup 2023 has also been announced and now the picture is almost clear as to how the playing XI of both the teams will be in the India-Pakistan match to be held on 2 September. However, before the Asia Cup, Pakistan has the challenge of Afghanistan. The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan is to be played in Sri Lanka and it is going to start from 22nd August. Before this series, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has given such a statement which is being seen as a warning for the Indian team.

Babar Azam on Monday said ahead of the first ODI against Afghanistan that the players of the team are hungry for success and all the players have their eyes set on winning the Asia Cup and World Cup titles. Along with this, Babar also said that he has been in Sri Lanka for a long time and now Sri Lanka is like a second home for him. What Babar means is that he has also adjusted well to Sri Lankan conditions and now it will not be easy for his team and any team to stop him.

Babar Azam said in Hambantota ahead of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, "Every player in this team has the hunger to perform. Every player wants to perform match-winning performances. We have had different match-winners recently. They have come to the fore which is a good sign for any team. When you perform in big tournaments, it boosts your morale as a team and individually and this team has done well in the recent past Bowlers win you big tournaments and I have faith in them that they will win us big tournaments.

Speaking further, Babar said, "We are focusing on our preparations as we have big events coming up in the Asia Cup and the World Cup. We are playing in Asian conditions. I have been in Sri Lanka for quite some time now. It's a pleasure playing in Sri Lanka and now Sri Lanka is like my second home."

This statement of Babar has come some time after the announcement of India's Asia Cup team, after which this statement is being considered as a kind of warning for the Indian team. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see that when India and Pakistan will be face to face, who will be able to adjust well to Sri Lankan conditions.
