What is a caretaker government, why was it needed in Pakistan?

Parliament in Pakistan has completed its term, in such a situation a new caretaker PM Anwar ul Haq was elected, until the newly elected government is formed, only the caretaker PM will take all the major decisions of Pakistan.

After the end of the term of the National Assembly in Pakistan, President Arif Alvi has sworn in Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar as the caretaker Prime Minister. He was sworn in on August 14, while the term of the Pak Assembly ended on August 12. It is also a coincidence that the caretaker PM took oath on the 76th anniversary of Pakistan. He will discharge his duties as caretaker Prime Minister till the elections are held.

Former Prime Ministers Shahbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz selected his name and sent a recommendation to the President. This is the second time that the National Assembly has completed its term. Earlier, the National Assembly had completed its term from 2013-2018. The whole world knows that the governments run as long as the Pakistani army wants, otherwise sometimes the generals themselves occupy the power and sometimes they make their favorite sit on the PM's chair. The fresh appointment is also said to have taken place with the consent of the army.

What is caretaker government

Now a question may arise in your mind that when the elections are about to be held then why the acting Prime Minister had to be appointed separately. In fact, the process of general elections in Pakistan is a rule to start only after the completion of the term of the National Assembly. Whereas in India, the election process starts even before the term of the Lok Sabha ends and by the time the term of the Lok Sabha ends, the new government takes oath. Elections are held in many democratic countries of the world just like in India. But, the Election Commission of Pakistan becomes active only when the Parliament is dissolved.

After that, there is a provision to complete the election process within 60 to 90 days. Now till the elections are not over, only the caretaker government will run the country. It is also called caretaker government. It is expected that this time the elections will be held late in Pakistan because the work of delimitation is going on. There is a possibility that the elections will be held in the year 2024. It is the responsibility of the new government to conduct fair elections while completing all the important tasks of the country.

Anwar ul Haq used to teach in the village school

The new caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan is 52 years old. He holds a Masters degree from Balochistan University. He is the co-founder of the Balochistan Awami Party. He started his career with teaching. He used to teach in the village school only. His political journey can be called brilliant. Because Anwar-ul-Haq, who came into politics in the year 2008, has been elected MP once till now and is now the caretaker PM of Pakistan.

He was also the spokesperson of the Balochistan government from 2015-207. After being elected MP, he was nominated in many important committees. He is called the master of foreign policy. He is also visiting faculty of National Defense University and Command and Staff College. The new caretaker PM is knowledgeable in Urdu, Persian, English, Balochi and Kakkar Pashto languages.
