Significance of Sawan Putrada Ekadashi
The holy Ekadashi of Sawan is called Putrada Ekadashi. The importance of this fast in Hinduism can be gauged from its name only. Putrada Ekadashi means the Ekadashi of wishing for a son. This Ekadashi has special significance for childless people. On this day, keeping fast with a true heart and worshiping Shri Hari Vishnu fulfills the wish of having a son.
When is Putrada Ekadashi and auspicious time
This year, the fast of Putrada Ekadashi of Savan will be observed on 27th August i.e. Sunday. According to the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Shravan will start on 26th August, Saturday late night at 12.08 am and it will end on 27th August. It will be till 9.32 minutes. The auspicious time of worship will start from 5:56 in the morning till 7:16. During this Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is being formed. This time is considered very auspicious for worshiping Putrada Ekadashi. It is a religious belief that every work done during this time is successful. After this auspicious time, worship can also be done between 7:33 am to 12:23 pm.
Time for Paran of Putra Ekadashi Vrat
The Paran of the fast of Putrada or Pavitra Ekadashi will be done on the next day i.e. on August 28, Monday. The time of Paran is from 5.57 am to 8.31 am. The Paran of the fast can be done anytime in between. The fast of Ekadashi is considered complete only after breaking it, that's why the fast should be broken in an auspicious time.
How to observe Putrada Ekadashi fast
To keep the fast of Putrada Ekadashi of Sawan, one should wake up early in the morning and take bath first. The place of worship should also be purified by wearing clean clothes. After this, light a lamp of ghee in front of the idol of Lord Vishnu and take a vow to keep fast. It is considered very auspicious to use Tulsi Dal in worship on this day. And everyone can be worshipped. Going to the temple, Jalabhishek should be performed on the Shivling to worship Lord Vishnu as well as Mahadev. To get the auspicious results of this fast, one should not eat food. Food should be eaten only at the time of Paran. By observing fast in this way, Lord Hari, the protector of the world, is pleased.
