Yagyopaveet has been considered very important in Hinduism. The sanctity of Yajnopaveet or the three threads of Janeu can also be known in such a way that it is considered a symbol of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh among the deities and Devrun, Pitrurun and Rishirun among the loans. It is one of the major 16 sacraments of Hinduism, which can be performed by any Sanatani Hindu, who can follow its rules completely. According to the Hindu belief, when should this sacrificial ritual be worn and when should it be changed, let us know in detail about all the important rules related to it.

What is sacrificial ceremony

In Hinduism, the sacrificial ceremony is usually performed at the age of 10 years of any child. Since this is an important rite of Hindu rites, people do it with great discipline. After the completion of this ritual, the child also has to follow certain rules to maintain the purity of Yajnopaveet or say, Janeu.

Rules and benefits of wearing Janeu

Janeu should always be taken from the left shoulder to the right waist 'Om Yajnopaveetam Param Pavitran, Prajapatairtsahjan Purstat. Ayushyamagryam pratimuncha shubhram, yajnopaveetam balamastu tejah' is worn while chanting the mantra. The essence of learning 64 arts and 32 learning is hidden in the 96 finger long Janeu. The five knots attached to it are the symbols of five senses and five actions. Often Janeu has to be wrapped tightly on the ear twice at the time of excreta-urine immersion. The first reason behind this is that by doing this, there is no possibility of it getting impure. Secondly, by doing this, the two veins behind the ear of the person, which are related to the intestines of the stomach, are not only affected by the pressure on them, but also the faeces- Urine is easily excreted, rather the person gets other types of health benefits.

How often should the sacred thread be changed

According to Hindu belief, whenever someone dies in your house, you should change your sacred thread after the end of the shoot. Similarly, if your sacred thread slips from your shoulder and comes under your left hand, or breaks due to any reason, or becomes impure because you do not keep it on your ear at the time of defecation, then the sacred thread should be changed immediately. Similarly, after performing the Shradh rituals, even after the lunar eclipse and the solar eclipse, the sacred thread should be changed according to the rules and regulations.

How to change janeu

When the sacred thread becomes unholy, the person should keep it as 'Etavaddin Paryantam Brahma Tvam Dharitam Maya'. It should be taken off immediately while reciting the Gachh Sutra Yatha Sukham' mantra, then after that another sacred thread should be worn according to the rules and regulations. Apart from this, once in a year, the Shravan festival associated with this Yagyopaveet falls on the full moon of the month of Shravan. On this festival, under the direction of a guru, standing in a river or lake, after worshiping and performing rituals, the sacred thread is changed. According to the Hindu belief, whenever a person enters the sannyas tradition, he takes off his sacred thread or yagyopaveet.
