It has been seen many times that if there is a long line of more than 100 meters at the toll plaza, then many times you have to wait for a long time. If this happens to you too, then this is news for you.
These days many wrong and misleading news related to toll tax rules are going viral on social media. It is sometimes told in viral news that if there is a long line of more than 100 meters at the toll plaza, then you will not have to pay tax. At the same time, it is sometimes said that even if you have to wait for more than 10 seconds at the toll plaza, you will be saved from paying toll tax. In such a situation, the passengers traveling on the highway sometimes argue and quarrel with the toll workers considering such news as true. But now all these false and misleading news have been rejected outright by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Giving a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the ministry has not approved any such scheme nor has it considered it. He said that there is no such provision with the ministry or NHAI regarding such news. According to the ministry, any vehicle driver will have to pay toll tax even after waiting more than the prescribed time at the toll plaza.
Average waiting time reduced from 734 seconds to 47 seconds
However, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also told the Lok Sabha that after making FASTag mandatory on all toll plazas in the country from 16 February 2021, there was a lot of benefit. He said that NHAI conducted a study between February 2021 and November 2021 to assess the benefits or impact. In which it came out that after making FASTag mandatory, the average waiting time at toll plaza has come down from 734 seconds to 47 seconds.
