World Cup 2023: Butler made a big statement on Stokes coming back from retirement, said- he takes his own decisions

England legend Ben Stokes has withdrawn his retirement from ODIs before the 2023 World Cup. He will defend the title included in the England team. Stokes had retired from this format last year citing a busy schedule. But he decided to return before England's provisional World Cup squad was announced and has now been included for the upcoming New Zealand ODI series. Meanwhile, England limited-overs skipper Jos Buttler is happy about Stokes' return. Let us tell you that the ODI World Cup to be held in India is starting from October 5 and its final will be played on November 19.

Butler said that, "To be honest it was Ben's decision. You all know Ben very well by now – I don't think anyone who talks to him will persuade him. We had a few conversations about this a while back." And left it up to him to basically come to me if he wanted to come back. We're glad he's ready to come back and whenever you can welcome him into the team that would be great. "

The England limited-overs captain further said, "I don't think you need to tell me what Ben Stokes brings to the team. It's fantastic to have Ben back available. Whenever a player of his quality is available again So that's fantastic. We're delighted to welcome him back."

Interestingly, it remains to be seen whether Ben Stokes will be able to bowl in the upcoming New Zealand series. As per reports, the all-rounder has been battling an injured knee for some time now and could play as a specialist batsman as well. Stokes represented England in 105 ODIs, scoring 2924 runs at an average of 38.99. He has 3 centuries and 21 half-centuries to his name in ODIs. While bowling, Stokes has taken 74 wickets with the help of an economy rate of 6.05.
