Your plate will not be expensive in festivals, these steps of the government put a check on inflation

Inflation had troubled the general public for the past few months. Especially due to the huge increase in the prices of tomatoes and other vegetables, tomatoes had disappeared from the plates of common people. The government took many such steps in time which not only controlled the prices of vegetables but also the prices of flour, pulses and rice. It is expected that the general public will not be burdened by inflation in the coming festivals.

Food inflation will not bother the common man during the festive season. The government has taken important steps to control the prices of other food items including flour, pulses, rice and sugar. Due to these, the plate will not be expensive in festivals. Whereas after the arrival of monsoon, the graph of food inflation was going up rapidly.

Union Ministry of Food and Commerce took many such steps on the front of food inflation, on which immediate decision was taken considering the delicacy of the occasion. If this was not the case, the general public would have to face huge food inflation during festivals. According to Union Minister Piyush Goyal, supply disruption due to heavy rains in different areas of the country became a major reason for food inflation.

Government took necessary steps

According to Piyush Goyal, the government took necessary steps to deal with this inflation, so much so that for the first time in the country, tomatoes were sold in the retail market by the government to bring down the prices. In one of the important steps to control food inflation, it was decided to impose 20 percent duty on exports to control the prices of rice.

The price of pulses was controlled. In view of the rising prices of flour, the government decided to sell 50 lakh tonnes of wheat in the open market. Also imposed stock limit on wheat. To keep the prices of pulses under control, the government decided to import 10 lakh tonnes of pulses. Whereas stock limit was already imposed on pulses. Apart from this, to control the rising prices of sugar, the government decided to sell 2 lakh tonnes of sugar in the open market in excess of the quota.

Vegetable prices under control

According to Pushan Sharma, Director (Research), Crisil Market Intelligence, if we look at food inflation during the monsoon, the prices of vegetables had made the common man's plate very expensive. However, now the prices of vegetables are also under control. Tomatoes were sold in the open market for more than Rs 200 per kg. Because of this, the government decided to sell tomatoes at cheaper rates. After this, the government imposed 40 percent duty to control the rising prices of onions. Also started selling onions from buffer stock at Rs 25 per kg. Along with this, strict instructions were given to the states to monitor the storage. Reports on this are also being taken from the states.

The plate will not be expensive in festivals

With these steps, the government will keep inflation under control during festivals. While preparing to implement many other steps in collaboration with the state governments. So that food inflation does not increase due to artificial reasons. According to agriculture expert Vinod Anand, to provide relief to the general public, the government has also reduced the prices of gas cylinders by up to Rs 200. Experts believe that due to various steps of the government, food inflation will not bother the general public during the festive season.
