2000 notes worth 3.22 lakh crore came back to the banks, have you deposited them?

The RBI had said in the guideline issued in May that those who have 2000 rupee notes can deposit them in banks, or can exchange them for other notes of the same value. The last date for depositing or exchanging 2000 notes has been fixed as 30 September 2023.

The Reserve Bank of India has given a lot of information regarding the withdrawal of 2000 notes. He has said on Friday that so far Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 3.32 lakh crore have been returned to the banking system. According to RBI, about 93 percent of the 2000 notes in circulation have returned to the banks from the market. However, people still have a month left to return the Rs 2000 notes. People can return 2000 notes to banks till 30 September. Or can also replace it with other notes. In such a situation, its figure may increase further till the last date of this month.

RBI said that till the close of business on August 31, 2000 notes worth about Rs 0.24 lakh crore were present in the market. The special thing is that out of 2,000 notes worth Rs 3.32 lakh crore that came in the banking system, about 87 percent have been deposited by the general public. Whereas, 13 per cent were exchanged with bills of lesser value. At the same time, RBI has appealed to the general public that they have a chance to deposit 2000 notes in banks till September. That's why they should deposit 2000 notes in banks as soon as possible.

Liquidity has picked up

At the same time, RBI had said on July 31 that till July 31, Rs 2000 notes worth about Rs 3.14 lakh crore have returned to the banks. Then RBI had said that in just two months, 88% of the total Rs 2000 notes present in the market have been withdrawn from the banks. Due to this there has been a jump in liquidity.

Deadline ends on this day

Let us tell you that on May 19, the Reserve Bank of India had decided to withdraw the Rs 2000 note from circulation. Along with this, he had also issued a deadline from May 23 to convert 2000 notes into banks. After September 30, you will not be able to return the 2000 note to the banks, because the deadline will end on this day.
