52 thousand crores will be spent in tribal dominated areas, 6 projects proposed in PM Gati Shakti meeting

It was discussed in the PM Gatishakti meeting that the project will help in improving logistics efficiency by reducing the existing route and travel time, and will also help in improving the traffic flow coming from UP towards Jharkhand and Patna through Purvanchal Expressway. Will provide uninterrupted connectivity.

Under the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan of the Central Government, proposals for six projects were presented in the 56th Network Planning Group meeting, which includes four projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and two projects of the Railway Ministry. Their total cost is approximately Rs 52 thousand crores. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has presented four road projects worth about Rs 45000 crore, the first of which is a greenfield road located in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

This will help in further developing agriculture and tourism sector along with strengthening the industrial belt in Navsari of Gujarat and Nashik and Ahmednagar districts of Maharashtra. Apart from this, socio-economic development of people living in tribal districts like Navsari, Valsad and Nashik will also be possible through this project. The second greenfield road project will also connect the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor to Ahmedabad and Vadodara, connecting Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts of Gujarat.

Patna-Ara-Sasaram Corridor

The third road project proposed in this is for Bihar. Which includes construction of 4 lanes of Patna-Ara-Sasaram corridor under Bharatmala project. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways hopes that this will lead to socio-economic development in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts, including tribal areas.

Improve interstate connectivity

It was discussed in the PM Gatishakti meeting that the project will help in improving logistics efficiency by reducing the existing route and travel time, and will also help in improving the traffic flow coming from UP towards Jharkhand and Patna through Purvanchal Expressway. Will provide uninterrupted connectivity. Apart from this, important steps were also taken to improve inter-state connectivity between Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Greenfield Railway Line Project

During the meeting, an assessment of one railway project each for Odisha and Chhattisgarh was also made, the estimated cost of which is approximately Rs 6700 crore. The first greenfield railway line project will connect the industrial and mineral clusters of western Odisha to the east coast port, passing through Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khandamal, Boudh, Sambalpur and Angul districts of Odisha.

New Industrial Corridor Opportunities

Apart from this, the industrial clusters of Eastern Chhattisgarh will also get a small port connectivity with the eastern coast. This railway line is expected to bring overall socio-economic development in the tribal areas of Kandhamal and Boudh districts and will also open up opportunities for new industrial corridors along the proposed line, while people living in the tribal and insurgency affected areas of the country will benefit from these projects. This will help in coming into the mainstream.
