Recently, the Indian government has taken a strict stance on Canada and banned Canadian visas. After which its impact on air fares has started becoming visible. Fares on Canadian routes have gone up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Instead of reducing the India Canada dispute, it is getting hotter day by day. The bitterness of both the countries has now started affecting the general public also. In fact, after the plate of diplomat, economy and common man, now it has started affecting air travel also. Recently, the Indian government has taken a strict stance on Canada and banned Canadian visas. After which its impact on air fares has started becoming visible. Due to the India-Canada dispute, air fares have increased by about 25 percent.
Fares increased on these routes
The India-Canada dispute is now affecting the aviation sector as well. The government has taken a strict stance towards Canada and has banned Canadian visas. Due to which air travel has now become expensive for Canada. The fare for direct flight between New Delhi and Toronto has increased to more than Rs 1.46 lakh. Whereas on the Toronto-Delhi route it is more than Rs 1.01 lakh.
Apart from this, the fare for normal flight for New Delhi-Montreal increased to more than Rs 1.55 lakh. For late booking on the New Delhi-Vancouver flight, passengers will have to spend around Rs 1.33 lakh, while those coming from Vancouver will have to spend around Rs 1.3 lakh.
This will also be affected
Till a year ago, there were about 40 flights a week between India and Canada, but last year an agreement was reached that both the countries will now increase the flights and for this they had also decided to reach new cities in both the countries, on which May also have an impact.
So many flights are flown in a week
Air India and Air Canada are the only two flights that fly on these routes. About 40 to 48 flights run between the two countries in a week. Air India flies daily to New Delhi-Toronto and New Delhi-Vancouver, while Air Canada flies daily between New Delhi and Toronto and thrice a week between New Delhi and Montreal. In FY23, 678,614 passengers flew between the two countries, while total international traffic to and from India stood at 54 million.
Government bans Canadian visas
India has suspended visa service for Canadian citizens with immediate effect. Earlier, a special advisory has also been issued by India for Indian citizens not to go to Canada and living there. Canada visas have been banned until further orders from the government. Let us tell you, Indians living in Canada and opposing anti-national activities are the target of Khalistanis. Due to which the Indian government has adopted a strict stance towards Canada.
