Akshardham Temple: The world's second largest Hindu temple is being built here, know why it is special

It took a devotee 12 years to build this temple and now it will be called the second largest temple in the world. This temple is going to be inaugurated very soon.

How great Sanatan Dharma is can be gauged by its popularity all over the world. There are many Hindu temples built all over the world, which have always been the center of attraction. The amazing thing is that even though India has the largest number of Hindus, their two largest temples are located abroad. The world's largest Hindu temple is already present in Angkor Wat in Cambodia, after which the second largest temple is also going to be inaugurated soon.

A very historic moment is about to come for us Indians, when the second largest temple will be inaugurated in New Jersey. This historic day is going to happen on 8th October. Let us tell you that this temple is B. A. P.S Swaminarayan was built by Akshardham Sanstha.

This temple of Lord Swami Narayan was built very beautifully. Work is going on to enhance its beauty and it will be inaugurated with great pomp. Let us tell you that Lord Swaminarayan was a Hindu spiritual saint leader of the 19th century. Because of his good works he was given the status of God.

History of Akshardham Temple located in New Jersey

This temple is located in Robbinsville Township, New Jersey. 12,500 volunteers from all over the US were involved in building this temple and it took 12 years i.e. 2011- 2023 to build this temple.

Akshardham Temple is built on 183 acres according to the mythological Indian culture. The temple complex includes 10,000 sculptures along with artworks of Indian music and dance forms.

This famous Akshardham temple consists of a main temple along with 12 sub-temples, nine shikharas (spire-like structures), and nine pyramids. Let us tell you that this temple has been designed with materials that will last without any damage for the next thousand years.

Limestone, pink sandstone, marble and granite were used to provide permanent strength in the construction of this historic temple. In its construction, materials brought from all over the world were used, which include countries like Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Turkey, Italy, India and China.

The temple complex also houses a Brahma Kund which contains water brought from sacred rivers of India as well as water taken from all 50 states of the US and more than 300 water bodies around the world.

Let us tell you that this temple is going to be inaugurated on 8th October but it will be open for tourists from 18th October. Currently this temple is open for visitors only for a few hours but will be closed from 30 September to 17 October.

According to the website of the temple, you can visit the temple premises 5 days a week i.e. from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4:30 pm till 30th September.
