Alarm bells of cancer among youth! People of this age are getting the most cancer- study

High amount of red meat and salt in the diet and low amount of fruits and milk, consumption of alcohol and tobacco are the main causes of cancer among youth. In 2022, about 14.6 lakh cancer cases were registered in India.

Cancer  : Cancer is increasing rapidly among the youth. A surprising revelation has come out in a study. A study published in the British medical journal BMJ Oncology states that in the last three decades, there has been a 79% increase in new cases of cancer in people under 50 years of age in the world. The number of such patients was 18.2 lakh in 1990, which increased to 38.2 lakh in 2019. This is an increase of 28%. Let's know why this study is cautioning... 

What does the cancer study say?

According to media reports, this study is based on the analysis of data from the 2019 report of Global Burden of Disease covering 29 types of cancer in 204 countries including India. The BMJ Oncology study found that in 2019, the highest number of early breast cancer cases were among those under 50. However, since 1990, cancer of the nose ie cancer of the nasopharynx and prostate has increased the fastest. Wind pipe and prostate cancer have increased by 2.28% and 2.23% annually between 1990 and 2019. An estimated 2.88% decline has been observed in liver cancer.
