Asia Cup 2023: Rohit-Kohli made a huge world record in ODI, world number 1 pair in this list

 

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma became the eighth pair of batsmen to score 5000 ODI partnership runs against Sri Lanka in the fourth match of Super 4 in Asia Cup 2023. Before Kohli-Rohit, Indian pairs Sachin Tendulkar-Sourav Ganguly and Rohit-Shikhar Dhawan have made an ODI partnership of 5000 runs. Apart from this, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have become the fastest pair to complete 5,000 runs in ODI history. Earlier this record was in the name of West Indies pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes. 

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have become the fastest pair in ODI history to reach the 5,000-run mark. Both these batsmen have achieved this feat in 86 innings. Earlier, this record has been surpassed by the West Indies pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, who had achieved this feat in 97 innings. During this period, Rohit-Kohli have played century partnerships 18 times and half-century partnerships 15 times. 

The biggest partnership of these two legendary batsmen came against Australia in Guwahati in 2018 when the Indian team had to chase a tough target of 323 runs. In this match, both of them made a partnership of 246 runs. However, both of them added only 10 (16) runs against Sri Lanka. Against Sri Lanka, Rohit was out after scoring 53 runs in 48 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Kohli scored only 3(12) runs.
