Attack on Nuh, Gurugram and Muslims, UN official gives big statement on minorities of India

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights mentioned Nuh, Gurugram and Manipur during his address. He said that Muslims are not safe in India. They often become victims of such attacks. Other minority communities have also been facing violence and insecurity since May.

UN Human Rights High Commissioner Volker Turk has given a big statement regarding the minorities of India. He said that minorities in India are marginalized and are often victims of violence and discrimination. He said these things while addressing the 54th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Turk said that his office often has to face such reports that minority communities are not safe in India.

India had rejected UN's statements on Manipur

Turk said there is a need to maintain the rights of minorities by dealing with intolerance, hatred, religious fanaticism and discrimination. India had said that it is aware of the situation in Manipur and is taking steps to maintain peace and law and order.

Violence broke out in Nuh on 31 July

Let us tell you that violence broke out in Nuh on 31st July during the visit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. This violence gradually reached other cities of Haryana also. 7 people were killed in Nuh violence. Apart from this, dozens of people were injured. Due to the violence, internet remained closed in Nuh for several days.

Violence broke out in Manipur on 3 May

Let us tell you that violence broke out on May 3 in protest against the demand of Meitei community for giving ST status in Manipur. More than 160 people have died so far in this caste violence. The Meitei community constitutes about 53 percent of the state's population and they mainly live in the Imphal Valley. At the same time, tribal communities like Naga and Kuki constitute 40 percent of the population and most of them live in the hill districts.
