Bangladesh announced the team for 2023 World Cup, showed the way out to veteran batsman Tamim Iqbal

 


Bangladesh has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India. Whereas Tamim Iqbal has not been included in the team. Experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will take over the captaincy of the team. The vice-captain of the team will be on the shoulders of Nazmul Hussain Shanto. 

Tamim Iqbal, who had retired from ODI a few months ago but surprised everyone by taking back the decision of retirement the very next day. Tamim had announced his decision to step down as captain of the Bangladesh ODI team after being ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023 due to a back injury. Although, he had regained fitness before the World Cup, but now he is not a part of the team. He played the first two matches of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Furthermore, fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has failed to recover in time for the World Cup. 

Mushfiqur Rahim, Nazmul Hussain Shanto, Liton Das and Shakib will provide strength to Bangladesh's batting. The responsibility of fast bowling will be on Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmood and Tanzeem Hasan. The responsibility of spin attack will be on Shakib, Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Nasum Ahmed. Bangladesh will play its first match in the World Cup against Afghanistan on October 7 in Dharamsala. Before this, Bangladesh team will play practice matches against Sri Lanka and England in Guwahati.

Rahman, Hasan Mahmood Shoriful Islam, Tanzeem Hasan Saqib. 

Afghanistan's World Cup squad: Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hasan, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhil, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Noor Ahmed, Fazalhaq Farooqui, Abdul Rahman, Naveen Ul Haq.
