Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra
According to religious beliefs, on Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes into yoga nidra for four months in Kshir Sagar and wakes up only on Devuthan Ekadashi. This time of four months is called Chaturmas. During this period, the responsibility of running the earth rests on Mahadev. Due to Lord Vishnu going into Yoga Nidra for four months, auspicious activities like marriage and tonsure are prohibited during this period.

In fact, during these four months, there are more bacteria and viruses due to which one should avoid doing any work in which many people gather so that diseases caused by these bacteria and viruses can be avoided. Apart from this, digestive power also becomes weak during Chaturmas and there are chances of water getting contaminated. In such a situation, many things regarding food have been prohibited. Talking about Bhadrapada, consumption of curd and things made from it like lassi, buttermilk is prohibited in this month. A big reason behind this is the rainy season. Consuming curd in this season can cause cough problems. Apart from this, the amount of bacteria in curd increases during these days which can cause damage to the intestines.
