"On behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), the ICC has charged a number of players and officials for breaches of the ECB Anti-Corruption Code during the T10 League," the ICC said in a press release issued on Tuesday. Nasser has been accused of breaching three of the ECB's anti-corruption codes of conduct.
Apart from Nasir, the other seven accused include Krishna Kumar Choudhary and Parag Sanghvi (two co-owners of the Devils), Rizwan Javed and Saliya Saman (two domestic players), as well as Ashar Zaidi (batting coach), Sunny Dhillon (assistant coach) and Shadab Ahmed (Team Manager) is included. The 2021 edition was the last time the Devils were part of the tournament. They finished last in the Super League with just one win from six matches. Nasir captained the Pune Devils in six matches played in the tournament.
The ACU was appointed by the Emirates Cricket Board as a monitor for the T10 tournament, which led to the allegations. All eight have two weeks to respond from Tuesday. Last month, Marlon Samuels, a two-time T20 World Cup winner for the West Indies, was found guilty of four corruption offences. The Jamaican player was ruled to have breached the ECB's anti-corruption code in relation to the 2019 Abu Dhabi T10. He was contracted by the Tuskers franchise ahead of the tournament, but he did not travel to the UAE for the matches.
