Now Kejriwal government has again announced that this year also there will be no bursting of firecrackers during Diwali. Delhi's Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said that such a decision has been taken due to the increasing pollution in winter.

But, as winter progresses, the air starts getting polluted. Gopal Rai said that this year also there will be a complete ban on making, selling, storing and using all types of firecrackers in Delhi.

Gopal Rai said that the Supreme Court had ordered the use of green firecrackers on October 23, 2018, but under its cover, poisonous firecrackers started being made. After this, on December 1, 2020, NGT ordered that firecrackers should be banned wherever the air quality is in poor category.
On September 28, 2021, the Pollution Control Board had imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing of firecrackers in Delhi. Last year also there was a ban on burning of firecrackers. The minister said that Delhi Police should not issue licenses to those selling and making such firecrackers.
