Big decision of Delhi government, firecrackers will not be burnt on Diwali this year also

This year too, crackers will not be burst during Diwali in Delhi. Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said that such a decision has been taken due to the increasing pollution in winter.

The air in Delhi becomes polluted every year on Diwali. In view of this, Delhi government had banned burning and selling of firecrackers on Diwali last year. Now Kejriwal government has again announced that this year also there will be no bursting of firecrackers during Diwali. Delhi's Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said that such a decision has been taken due to the increasing pollution in winter.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said that the level of pollution increases in Delhi in winter. The average AQI of Delhi remains very low from January to August. But, as winter progresses, the air starts getting polluted. Gopal Rai said that this year also there will be a complete ban on making, selling, storing and using all types of firecrackers in Delhi.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai said

Gopal Rai said that there is a tradition of bursting crackers with lamps on the occasion of Diwali. But this leaves a blanket of smoke all around Delhi on the next day of Diwali. Let us tell you that in Delhi's neighboring states Punjab and Haryana, farmers start burning stubble in the fields in winter, which also affects the air quality of Delhi. Regarding this, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal himself has appealed to the farmers of Punjab and Haryana not to burn stubble in the fields.

The Supreme Court had said that firecrackers should be banned…

Gopal Rai said that the Supreme Court had ordered the use of green firecrackers on October 23, 2018, but under its cover, poisonous firecrackers started being made. After this, on December 1, 2020, NGT ordered that firecrackers should be banned wherever the air quality is in poor category.

On September 28, 2021, the Pollution Control Board had imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing of firecrackers in Delhi. Last year also there was a ban on burning of firecrackers. The minister said that Delhi Police should not issue licenses to those selling and making such firecrackers.
