RBI has said that the last date to exchange Rs 2000 notes which are out of circulation is 30th September. It will not be taken further. RBI has clearly said that people will not get more time to exchange Rs 2000 notes. After September 30, these notes will remain just a piece of paper.

Actually, according to news agency ANI, RBI is not going to extend the deadline for exchanging Rs 2000 notes. In such a situation, you have the last chance to exchange Rs 2000 notes.

Deadline will not be extended

As the deadline approached, many media reports were claiming that the Reserve Bank may further extend the deadline for exchanging Rs 2000 notes for Indians and NRIs living abroad till October 31, 2023. But now according to the report of ANI, RBI is in no mood to extend the deadline. After today these notes will become equivalent to junk.

4 months time given

The Reserve Bank of India had given people 4 months time to remove Rs 2000 notes from circulation on May 19, 2023. So that people can exchange these notes by going to the bank. Its deadline is ending today i.e. Saturday, September 30, 2023. If you have not done this work yet then today is your last chance. The Reserve Bank has set a limit of exchanging only Rs 2000 notes up to Rs 20,000 at a time.

Till now 93 percent notes have been returned

According to the data released by the Reserve Bank on September 1, about 93 percent of Rs 2000 notes have returned to the banking system. In such a situation, the total value of these notes is Rs 3.32 lakh crore. At the same time, about Rs 24,000 crore i.e. 7 percent of the amount is still left to come into the banking system. According to media reports, according to data taken from different banks, 87 percent of the deposited notes have been deposited in the bank account. The remaining 13 percent amount has been exchanged with other notes.
