This often happens when the bike stops automatically while moving. This happens due to some fault in the bike. Sometimes the choke has to be turned on to start the bike again. This is quite strange because normally you do not need to keep the choke on to ride the bike. Now why does it happen that there is a need to start a choke and what is the treatment? In this article we will see what is the choke related problem and what needs to be done to fix it.
What is bike choke?
First of all let us know what is bike choke. It is a valve that allows the right amount of airflow inside the carburetor. The oil goes into the carburettor and this helps the bike to move forward. But this cannot happen if there is any obstacle in the way. Then by opening the choke, fuel goes inside and it allows the bike to move forward.
When should the choke be turned on?
When there is dirt in and around the carburetor parts a choke can be used. These locations include the fuel line, petcock, pilot jet, or fuel filter. Dirt becomes a hindrance in the path of oil. Due to this, oil does not reach the carburetor properly. Since fuel is needed to achieve throttle, the bike does not move forward unless the choke is on.
How to fix the problem?
The solution to this problem is quite easy! All you have to do is clean the inside of the carburetor. Identify the areas where dirt has accumulated. There are some sensitive areas like fuel lines, petcock, pilot jet or fuel filter where focus should be done. If you see any dirty place, clean it. This will make it easier for oil to reach the carburetor.
Apart from this you can send the bike to the service station. This problem can be solved by thoroughly cleaning the bike. If you have bike insurance, you can also make a claim, so check with the service station beforehand.
