BSP chief Mayawati has expelled Dharamveer Chaudhary from the party. Before Dharamveer, Mayawati had also taken action against Imran Masood. Now the question arises that with which strong commanders will Mayawati contest the election battle of 2024?
As the political fabric has started being woven regarding the Lok Sabha elections, BSP chief Mayawati is busy showing her leaders one after the other the way out of the party. After Imran Masood, who is considered the Muslim face of Western UP, old leader Dharamveer Chaudhary, who was associated with BSP missionary, has been expelled from the party. Except Nagina MP Girish Chandra and Munkad Ali, there is no strong leader left in BSP. In such a situation, with which strong commanders will Mayawati contest the election battle of 2024?
Western UP used to be a stronghold of BSP. Saharanpur, Bijnor and Agra were the political laboratories of BSP, where everyone from Kanshi Ram to Mayawati maintained their dominance. The process of party leaders leaving the party started due to BSP being out of power and Mayawati not being politically active and is continuing. Not only this, Mayawati ousted many old leaders. In such a situation, with the help of which face will Mayawati be able to save her lost politics in Western UP, which has been a strong stronghold of BSP?
Muslim leaders of BSP have left
Through Mayawati's Dalit-Muslim equation, BSP had kept its political base very strong in Western UP. For the first time in 1989, 12 BSP MLAs had won, of which four were Muslim MLAs. In this, two Muslim MLAs were from Western UP, Sheikh Suleman from Afzalgarh in Bijnor and Mohammadullah Khan from Thakurdwar seat of Moradabad. Sheikh Suleman was made the leader of the legislature party, but left BSP and joined SP just before the 2022 elections. As of today, there is not a single strong Muslim leader left in BSP in Muzaffarnagar.
From former MP Qadir Rana to former MLA Noor Saleem Rana, former MLA Shahnawaz Rana, former MLA Nawazish Alam, former MP Amir Alam, Maulana Jamil Ahmed Qasmi, some leaders left BSP and joined SP and some joined RLD. Majid Ali, a veteran leader of BSP in Saharanpur, has also left the party. Aslam Chaudhary, who was MLA from Hapur district, had joined SP. From Sheikh Iqbal to Shafiqur Rahman Burke were once in BSP. Former MLA Zakir Ali is in SP from BSP while Munawwar Hasan's family is also in SP.
Similarly, Meerut MP Shahid Akhlaq and MLC Iqbal Contractor are keeping themselves in silent mode, while the entire family of Haji Yakub Qureshi is maintaining silence. In this way, there is not even a single big Muslim leader left in Western UP.
Disillusionment of Jat-Gurjar-Dalit
Dharam Singh Saini was once the biggest leader of BSP in Saharanpur, but he left the party in 2017 itself. Agra has been the political laboratory of BSP, where Dalit-Jat-Brahmin politics were sharpened. Jat leader Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary has entered BJP from BSP while Ramveer Upadhyay's family is also in BJP. Similarly, Jaiveer Singh of Thakur community is in BJP and Yograj Singh is in RLD. Veteran BSP leaders Veer Singh and Sunil Chittor have also left the party. Not only this, leaders like Master Rajpal, Gajendra Singh, Satpal Gurjar have also left BSP and joined BJP. Apart from this, Yogesh Verma has also left BSP and joined SP. In this way, from Western UP to Brij region, veteran leaders of BSP are now on the boat of other parties.
BSP's political laboratory Western UP
The political land of western Uttar Pradesh has been the political laboratory of BSP. Mayawati had contested the elections for the first time from Bijnor Lok Sabha seat. Even though she had lost in the 1985 by-election, she reached Parliament by winning the Bijnor seat in the 1989 Lok Sabha elections. It was from here that BSP had made Western UP its political stronghold. In some areas of Western UP, BSP had eliminated all the opposition parties by creating Dalit-Muslim equation. In some areas, it was successful through Dalit, Muslim, Gurjar and Jat combination. From Kairana to Bijnor, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Amroha and Agra, BSP had strengthened its political base, but with time this fort of BSP is collapsing.
BSP's deep crisis in leadership
The old leadership of BSP has completely ended in Western UP. All the leaders who had come with Kanshi Ram have themselves left the party or Mayawati has shown them the way out of BSP. BSP brought in Saharanpur's powerful leader Imran Masood to create a new Muslim leadership, but ousted him within ten months. BSP has four MPs in Western UP, out of which two are Muslims. Kunwar Danish Ali from Amroha and Haji Fazalur Rehman from Saharanpur. Danish Ali is looking for his new political destination for 2024, in this regard he has also met Nitish Kumar. Haji Fazalur Rahman has limited himself to Saharanpur. In such a situation, how will BSP be able to find its lost support base?
Mayawati has announced to fight alone in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections instead of forming an alliance with anyone. BSP has suffered the consequences of contesting alone in the 2014 Lok Sabha and 2022 Assembly elections. In 2014, BSP's account was not even opened, whereas in 2019, it was successful in winning 10 MPs after forming an alliance with SP. Not a single current BSP MP is ready to contest the party elections alone, but no one has the courage to say so to Mayawati. Imran Masood and Dharamveer Chaudhary were speaking in favor of an alliance in 2024, which Mayawati did not like. The political ground seems to be becoming even more difficult for the BSP, which is already going through a leadership crisis in Western UP. In such a situation, how will Mayawati be able to save her old political stronghold?
