The study group of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN body, accepted India's vision of widespread coverage under 6G technology in its meeting held in Geneva. Now this step can reduce the cost of using next generation technology. ITU has the responsibility of developing international mobile telecommunication standards.
An official statement has been issued on Wednesday, in which it has been said that despite the opposition efforts of some member countries in the meeting, the Department of Telecommunications has been successful in successfully including 'wider connectivity'. It is reported that a meeting of ITU Study Group (SG-5) was held in Geneva on 25-26 September. This proposal has been accepted in this meeting.
High-speed broadband internet will be available in urban and rural areas.
At the same time, IMT 2030 is also known as 6G. It is being developed by Working Group 5D of ITU-R Study Group 5. In the 6G vision document released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has proposed that 6G technology implementation should be affordable, sustainable and widespread.
At the last meeting of the Study Group, the Indian delegation was successful in including 6G widespread connectivity in the IMT2030 framework, thereby moving towards reducing the digital divide and creating a level playing field. At the same time, through mobile technology, urban and rural people alike will be able to get high-speed broadband internet. Satya N Gupta, member of ITU's expert group on NGN, says that with this approval, India's 6G vision has got a global role.
The country's vision reached global level with the acceptance of 6G proposal.
Gupta says that the finalized proposals decide how the technology will develop. The acceptance of India's 6G proposal brings the country's perspective to the global stage and gives the country an opportunity to participate in 6G standard-making. This is the first time that India has made such a significant contribution in influencing ITU.
