Its name is Android Earthquake Alert System, with the help of which the company will send earthquake alerts to the people. This system is being used first in many countries. If the occurrence of a natural disaster like earthquake is detected well in time, the loss of life and property can be reduced. Let us see how this alert system works.

Google is preparing to bring this system to India. The company is consulting the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Seismology Center (NSC) to launch this service in the country. Google's technology works to send warnings before the earthquake starts.

This is how an earthquake will be detected

Google said that this system turns your phone into a mini earthquake detector. The earthquake alert system uses the accelerometer present in the phone as a seismograph. When your phone is not charging and is not moving, it can detect the initial signs of an earthquake. If several phones detect an earthquake simultaneously, Google's servers will come to know.

By sensing the signals, Google can find out where an earthquake may occur, and what intensity it will be. After this Google will send an alert to the phones around that area. Depending on the magnitude of the earthquake, alerts are divided into two types. During magnitude 4.5 or more, MMI 3 and 4 will go to Be Aware Alert.

Take Action Alert will be sent for MMI 5+ aftershocks with a magnitude of 4.5 or more. In case of a powerful earthquake, an alert will come even with the Do Not Disturb setting, and a loud sound will sound. If this happens, you can try to go to a safe place, or stay under the table.

This system will be released for Android users in India. However, only people running Android 5 or higher will get earthquake alerts. This system will be started from next week.
