On hearing the name of Budelkhand, the first picture that comes to people's mind is a drought-stricken area. Because there is a lot of water shortage in Budelkhand area. Rainfall is also very less here compared to other districts of Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, the farmers here mostly cultivate coarse grains like maize and millet. Due to this, farmers get less income. But now the farmers here are also cultivating modern crops like the farmers of other states. The farmers here are now taking more interest in horticulture. Due to this the income of farmers has increased.
Actually, farmers of Budelkhand region are now cultivating Bluecon flower. This is a kind of exotic flower. It is cultivated only in Germany. But now farmers in Bundelkhand area have also started cultivating Bluecone. The specialty of this flower is that it requires very little irrigation. That means it can be grown even in drought-prone areas. This is the reason why Bluecone is grown in the dry areas of Germany.
Bluecon flower is available for Rs 2000 per kg.
But now the Uttar Pradesh government is trying to promote its cultivation in Bundelkhand and Jhansi also. According to experts, the climate here is suitable for the cultivation of bluecone flowers. At the same time, the Agriculture Department is preparing a nursery for these flowers. The government is distributing its plants to farmers for cultivation. Bluecone flowers are available in the market for Rs 2000 per kg.
