Whereas the construction of the new Parliament building was completed in 3 years and its cost was around Rs 861 crore. The new building will replace the approximately 96 year old Parliament House. The central hall of the old building has seating capacity for only 440 members, whereas the new building has the capacity to seat much more people.

What is the difference between old and new

Let us tell you that the shape of the new Parliament building is triangular, whereas the old one is circular. The new Parliament House has been built in four floors and the total building has been constructed in a total area of ​​64,500 square meters. Whereas the built up area of ​​the old Parliament building is only 24,281.16 square meters. The new Parliament building has only 3 main gates, whereas the old building has 12 main gates.

There is seating arrangement for more than 1200 members.

Arrangements have been made to seat more than 1200 members in the new Parliament House. The new building has seating arrangements for 888 members in the Lok Sabha chamber and 384 members in the Rajya Sabha chamber. Whereas in the old building, there are seating arrangements for only 250 members in the Rajya Sabha chamber and 550 members in the Lok Sabha classroom.

Digital surveillance also in the new building

A cordon of digital surveillance has been created in every corner of the new Parliament building. Double security operating system has also been installed. The new building has been completely built under new technology. It has been made completely digital. The new building has a parking capacity of 900 vehicles, whereas the old building can accommodate only 212 vehicles. There is no Constitution Hall in the old building, whereas there is in the new building.
