Mythological story related to Bholenath

According to the legend, once Mother Parvati removed the turmeric applied from her body and made an effigy of a child and breathed life into it with divine powers. Mother Parvati named that child Vinayak. After this, when Mother Parvati started going for bath, she told Vinayak to sit at the door and not let anyone come inside. Lord Ganesha followed the orders of his mother and did not allow anyone to go inside. Lord Shiva was also stopped outside by Lord Ganesha on the orders of Mother Parvati due to which Lord Shiva became angry. Bholenath did not know who Lord Ganesha was and he beheaded him with his trident. Seeing this, Mother Parvati starts crying and becomes very angry. Mother Parvati asks Lord Shiva to revive Lord Ganesha. Lord Shiva tells his followers to go and bring the first head they see in the north direction. When Shiva's followers go to collect the head, the first thing they find in the north is Indra's elephant Airavata and they bring his head. After this, Lord Shiva brings his son Ganesha back to life by attaching an elephant's head to him.

Story related to Gajasur demon

According to Kurma Purana, a demon named Gajasur was a great devotee of Bholenath and used to remain engrossed in worship day and night to please him. He was born from the combination of Gaja and Asura and his face was also like that of Gaja. Seeing his devotion, Lord Shiva became pleased and asked him to ask for a boon. As a boon, the demon Gajasura asked the Lord to reside in his stomach. To fulfill this boon, Lord Shiva entered into the stomach of Gajasur. When Mother Parvati started searching for Bholenath, she was nowhere to be found. He asked Lord Vishnu to find out Bholenath and Lord Vishnu showed his leela and Lord Vishnu, Brahma ji and Nandi went to dance in the palace of Gajasur. Seeing the wonderful dance of Nandi, Gajasura became very happy and asked Nandi to ask for a boon. Then Nandi Maharaj with his cleverness asked for Bholenath. Gajasur understood that God himself had come to his palace and he had to keep his promise. Lord Vishnu was pleased with Gajasura's weight gain and gave him a boon that when the time came, he would get such respect that people would worship him. When Bhole Baba had cut off the head of Lord Ganesha, then Shri Hari had given the head of Gajasur to be cut off and in this way, an elephant's head was placed on the torso of Lord Ganesha and the face of Gajasur got the honor which was promised by Shri Hari. .
