Food Safety and Standards Authority of India i.e. FSSAI has issued guidelines for shopkeepers and confectioners at the beginning of the festive season. Issuing the order, FSSAI said that shopkeepers making sweets should avoid making sweets in the open. At the same time, if any shopkeeper is found not following the rules of FSSAI, then action will be taken against him.

FSSAI has ordered businesses dealing in food products to maintain good quality. Also, orders have been given to keep adulterated raw materials in sweets, especially milk products, in check.

After a meeting with sweets manufacturers and food business operators, FSSAI said that before the upcoming festive season, shopkeepers should thoroughly check the safety and quality of their food items and raw materials. FSSAI said that all shopkeepers will have to follow this order of the government.

At the same time, special care will have to be taken about the quality of the oil for the substance to be avoided. At the same time, shop operators will also have to take care of safety for open sweets. Because keeping or making sweets in the open can pose a risk to food safety. For milk and products also, FSSAI said that more emphasis has been laid on checking adulteration in raw materials, especially milk and milk products.

There is a high risk of adulteration in khoya, cheese and ghee. FSSAI has also ordered to purchase milk, khoya, ghee and cheese etc. only from FSSAI registered or licensed sellers.
