Onion is being sold at Rs 30 to 35 per kg
In fact, to control the rising prices of onion, the central government had imposed 40 percent duty on the export of onion in the month of August. Then the government had said that it had taken this decision to stop inflation. 40 percent export duty on onion will continue till December 31, 2023. The government hoped that by doing this the export of onion from the country would reduce. This will increase the stock of onion. In such a situation, onion prices will start falling. However, this decision of the government has caused some decline in onion prices. Onion, which was available at Rs 40 per kg, is now being sold at Rs 30 to Rs 35 per kg.
