Today is the Shashthi date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month, which is celebrated every year as the festival of Halchhath Vrat or Balram Jayanti in Sanatan tradition. According to the Panchang, today is the sixth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. In Sanatan tradition it is known as the festival of Hal Shashthi, Lalhi Chhath and Balram Jayanti. Women observe this fast every year wishing for the happiness of their children. According to Hindu belief, this fast is considered to increase the lifespan of the child. It is believed that by observing this fast, the obstacles and adversities coming in the life of the child are removed and one attains happiness and good fortune in life. According to Hindu belief, Lord Krishna's elder brother Balram was born on the day of Hal Shashthi. Let us know about this holy fast and the method of worship of Balram, who is considered to be the incarnation of Sheshnag.

Auspicious time for worship of Halchhath

According to the Panchang, Shashthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadon month will start from 04:41 pm on 04 September 2023 and will continue till 03:46 pm on 05 September 2023. In such a situation, according to Udaya Tithi, the fast of Hal Shashthi is being observed today.

How to worship Kanha's Dau

To worship Baldau, who is considered to be the incarnation of Sheshnag, one should wake up before sunrise in the morning on the day of Halashashthi. After this, take bath, meditate and worship Lord Surya by wearing clean clothes and after that place the idol or photo of Baldau along with Lord Krishna on a post and worship him with all the rituals. Do not forget to perform Aarti of Baldau at the end of his puja.

Method and rules of Halchhath fast

According to Hindu belief, some things should be taken special care of during Halchhath fast.

If possible, on Hal Shashthi fast, a person should do Datun of Mahua.

Halashasti fast is also broken with Mahua, Passover rice and buffalo milk. Buffalo milk is especially used during Halashasti fast.

Consumption of cow's milk or things made from it is prohibited during Halchhath fast. In such a situation, do not use it even by mistake today.

During Halchhath Vrat, plowing with plow does not consume any food item or fruit etc.

Plow is worshiped on the day of Hal Shashti Vrat and on this day the plow is not driven on the ground. There is also a tradition of worshiping the bull along with the plow on the Halchhath fast.

Those who wish to get the virtuous fruit of Halchhath fast should not disturb bullocks and any other animal today.
