Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Shakib made a brilliant ODI debut in the Asia Cup and his brilliant performance in the match against India brought him into the limelight. However, the limelight seems to be going against him as an old social media post about his women is spreading like wildfire.
Tanzeem has made some posts that have been seen as insulting the dignity of women and viewing them as pure misogyny. He has received feedback from many women on social media and now women have also demanded intervention from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in this matter, after which Tanzim's problems are going to increase.
One of the posts Tanzeem Hasan Saqib posted on Facebook last year reads, "If the wife works, the husband's rights are not ensured. If the wife works, the child's rights are not ensured." If the wife works, her beauty is spoiled. If the wife works, the family is ruined. If the wife works, the veil is ruined. If the wife works, the society is ruined. Will go.”
She also made another post that apparently brainwashed men into thinking why they shouldn't be with women who have a lot of male friends at university because their kids won't be 'submissive'. Many women on social media have raised questions over such derogatory posts, especially when women are a major force in the garment factories that produce the Bangladesh team jersey. The BCB is reportedly looking into the matter and will probably make a statement at the appropriate time.
Paris-based feminist writer Jannatun Naeem Preeti has made very strong comments about Tanzeem Hasan Saqib. The Times of India quoted him as saying, "I feel sorry for you that you don't consider your mother a normal human being."
