Matar Makhana Recipe: If you are bored of eating Matar Paneer, then you should try something new. Ingredients:
Makhana - 1 cup
Peas - 1/2 cup (fresh or frozen)
Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato - 2 (ground)
Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tsp
Green chilli - 1 (finely chopped)
Cream or malai - 1/4 cup (optional)
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil or ghee - 2 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp tsp
cumin - 1/2 tsp
kasoori methi - 1/2 tsp (optional)
Method:
Frying Makhana: Heat some ghee in a pan and fry the Makhana until it turns golden. put aside.
Tadka: Heat oil or ghee in the same pan, add cumin seeds. Add onion, ginger-garlic paste and green chilli and fry.
Add tomatoes: When the onion becomes golden, add ground tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, and coriander powder and fry well.
Add peas and makhana: Once the masala is roasted well, add peas and makhana.
Water and salt: Now add water, add salt as per taste and cook for 10-12 minutes.
Add cream: When the peas and makhana are cooked well, add the cream or cream and cook for 2-3 more minutes.
Garam Masala: Finally add garam masala and kasoori methi and mix well.
Serve: Serve with hot roti or rice.
