Janmashtami 2023: The festival of Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated with great fanfare on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on both 6 and 7 September. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people regarding the festival of Janmashtami. There are many rituals on this day which must be done on this day.
Shri Krishna was born at midnight in Rohini Nakshatra. Because of which Krishna Janmashtami is worshiped at night. After the birth of Bal Gopal, he is bathed and dressed in new clothes. On the day of Janmashtami, there is special importance of keeping cucumber in worship.
The worship of Shri Krishna Janmashtami is considered incomplete without cucumber. Shri Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated on 6th September and 7th September . Special types of bhog are made on this day. Along with this, it should be mandatory to have cucumber in worship. Especially the stalked cucumber. It is very important to keep it in this worship. This cucumber is considered like an umbilical cord. The way the child is separated from the umbilical cord after coming out of the mother's womb, in the same way the cucumber with the stem is separated from the cold. This process is called umbilical cord piercing.
According to religious beliefs, Laddu Gopal is born from cucumber. On this day devotees keep cucumber near Laddu Gopal and separate the cucumber from the stem at 12 midnight. Stems from coins and separated from cucumbers. Then Shri Krishna is born. That's why cucumber must be kept in worship on the day of Janmashtami.
You can give chopped cucumber to pregnant women after worship. It can be distributed among the people as Prasad. It is believed that if pregnant women consume this cucumber, then a child like Shri Krishna is born.
