The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released the code for Jewar International Airport. This airport has been given the code name DXN. Whenever we book an air ticket, three letters written in English appear in brackets next to the name of the city, these three letters are valid as the code of an airport. This information is also visible on the ticket. When you hand over the luggage at the airport counter, this code is printed in big letters on the strip that the airlines staff puts on your baggage.
The codes of both the place from where you are traveling and the destination are clearly written on everything from ticket to luggage. This means that this code has a lot of meaning in air travel. For example, DXN code means that this airport is in NCR. This airport is being built and air travel will start from here soon.
Different airport codes of every city
There are many airports in cities like London, New York, all have different codes. If the correct code is not entered while booking the ticket, then it is possible that instead of reaching the airport at which you want to land, you will reach another airport in the same city. This can be understood more easily.
When Jewar Airport becomes operational, there will be two international airports in Delhi-NCR. The code of Delhi is DEL and the code of Jewar is DXN. In such a situation, due to a minor mistake in booking the ticket, the person who has to reach Indira Gandhi International Airport will reach Jewar. It is said that both are in the same city but you may have to spend hours in local travel.
What is the rule of naming?
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) uses three letters from A to Z while issuing codes. There will be no numbers, no hyphens. There is no set formula but in general case the first letter reflects the city and the last letter reflects the area. Earlier this was decided by the abbreviated names of cities, which are still prevalent today. For example, the code of Bangkok is BKK and the code of London's Heathrow Airport is LHR.

In our country, Mumbai's code is BOM, Bengaluru's BLR, Chennai's MAA and Kolkata's code is CCU. Chennai can be seen as an example in this. When this code was decided, Chennai was known as Madras. In such a situation, the formula present in the case of airport code will not match. Therefore this code is a very important tool for air travel.
Similarly, International Civil Aviation Organization also issues codes. This is a four letter indicator. It is used by government, military and authority officers. The importance of this code can be easily seen when it is known that at present there are 40 thousand airports in the whole world. There are more than two thousand of these from where international flights arrive and depart.
